The Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC) is open-source software for volunteer computing and desktop grid computing.

"Use the idle time on your computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux) to cure diseases, study global warming, discover pulsars, and do many other types of scientific research.  It's safe, secure, and easy" (University of California, 2006).

If you decide to participate in any of the distributed computing options, please feel free to join any of the existing McGroarty teams.
